The London Centre of Champissage International’s Ayurvedic Kansa Vatki (KV) Foot Massage is new to New Zealand. With Marma Therapy included it is a wonderfully relaxing, holistic treatment, which helps to balance body, mind and spirit and free the flow of energy throughout the body. Foot Massage is known to reduce stress, activate our immune system and heal our body / mind consciousness.
The treatment begins by cleansing the feet and legs before a thorough massage using ghee, jojoba oil or other oils. The massage also includes the use of a small bowl made from copper, tin and zinc, the sacred metal alloy (Kansa), known in Ayurveda as the ‘Healing metal’.
As in Reflexology, which targets ‘reflex areas’ corresponding to bodily organs and system, KV Foot Massage gives attention to massaging the Marma point of the feet and legs. The Seven Chakras are also worked on during a KV treatment and the tri-doshas are also helped to rebalance.
Consultation and Dosha Constitution
We begin the treatment with a consultation and then a Dosha (the underlying energetic forces behind the workings of both body and mind) constitution form is completed. The form, Doshas – Vata, Pitta and Kapha, reveals what your main dosha type is, the unique quality that you as an individual has. Once we know this we know which oil to use for your individual treatment.
You also get to take your Dosha form home with you. The combination of Dosha’s you are born with is called your ‘Prakriti’ or original constitution. This effects factors such as diet, lifestyle, work, relationships and health balance. There is a lot of information available on the Doshas that can be helpful to assist with diet and healthy lifestyles.

The Kansa Vatki Foot Massage supports, nourishes and nurtures.
When we are working on the feet and paying particular attention to the marmas, we give our client the opportunity to re-connect with the universal life force and rebalance the innate healing energy. When we are working on the chakras, we bring balance to the energy centers of the body.
The chakras are the openings for life energy, prana, to flow in and out of the aura. Their purpose is to energise the physical body and to bring about the development of our self consciousness. These energy centers connect to the endocrine glands of our body.
The endocrine system is made up of a network of glands which secrete hormones, chemical signals, to regulate many bodily functions. These functions include growth, metabolism, response to stimuli, reproduction and homeostasis through glands such as the thyroid gland, pituitary, pineal, prostate, ovaries, thymus (heart), solar plexus and spleen (www.endocrinesystem.com)
Kansa Vatki Massage is a simple, drug-free method for reducing stress and boosting the body’s vital energy system. We can reduce stress, activate our immune system and heal our body, mind and soul consciousness through the simple act of foot massage.
In the Ayurvedic tradition, foot massage is said to balance the dosha’s. The doshas are present in every cell as a genetic code and create a unique ‘biochemical lab’ in every individual’s body. The Soles of our feet can open the doors of our body’s internal pharmacy (Dr Vasant Lad, https://www.ayurveda.com/videostream/}
